Our Founder and President, Lynn Cassella-Kapusinski, knows the difficulties and grief experienced by children with separated or divorced parents because she has
lived through them herself. Her parents separated when she was 11, then divorced five years later. And she now has over 30 years personal
experience to share. No easy solutions, just good solid insights and lots of challenging questions to help hurting children make their way.
Lynn has a background in pastoral counseling, child development, and writing for children and young adults. She obtained her BA degree from the University
of Notre Dame and her MFA from Vermont College. She is also completing a MS Degree in Pastoral Counseling at Loyola College in Maryland.
Her professional experience includes conducting family therapy at Lighthouse, Inc. and individual and group therapy with children, teens and young adults at the Center for Grief and Loss at Stella Maris. She has also facilitated peer support groups for the Young People’s Beginning Experience program and served as a school
counselor. In 2001, she founded Faith Journeys because she met so many young people who were struggling with their parents’ divorce, and she wanted
to do more to help them.
In particular, she wanted to offer them the solution that had helped her: reliance on God and a safe place to express grief.
In Lynn’s case, she could not move on with her life until she gave God a real chance to help her.
Lynn has been featured on NBC TV, Fox 45 TV, The Jane Pauley Show, Good Life Television, SIRIUS Satellite Radio, and in various publications across the country. The Notre Dame Club of Maryland presented her with its "Award of the Year" for 2004-2005.
Lynn has also done work for numerous Catholic organizations, including NCEA, NACSDC, the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and the Dioceses of Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. She is available for speaking engagements, facilitator training, and to help your organization establish a group or retreat program in your area.
Her workshop topics include:
"Understanding and Comforting Young People with Separated or Divorced Parents"
"Helping Adolescents through Family Changes: A Workshop for Teachers and Guidance Counselors"
