Why Our Programs Are The Best
Faith Journeys Foundation, Inc.
What Makes Us Unique
What Makes Faith Journeys Unique

  • Our programs are written by a child of divorce who has "beaten the odds."

Our founder, Lynn Cassella-Kapusinski, experienced her parents' separation when she was 11 years old, then their divorce when she was 16. Research shows that young adolescents, along with preschoolers, are worst affected by parental breakup. Lynn not only weathered this adversity without resorting to destructive outlets, but she also is very happily married today. She knows from personal experience what it's like to live in these children's shoes, and what it takes to heal and grow. The curriculum in her books is filled with this "double vision."

  • Faith Journeys has a strong spiritual dimension.

We believe that spirituality plays an essential role in a young person's growth from parental divorce. From her education and training at the University of Notre Dame and the graduate Pastoral Counseling program at Loyola University Maryland, along with her own religious upbringing as a Roman Catholic, Lynn encourages young people to bring God and the Church into the solution.

  • Our programs are affordable for schools and parishes and tailored to their needs.

Other group programs offer their curriculum as part of a start-up kit that costs $ 500.00 to over $ 1,000.00. Our curriculum, however, can be obtained for just $ 9.95 per book (middle school and high school version) or $ 10.95 per book (older teen and young adult version). We also offer facilitator training and consulting assistance that is tailored to the needs of schools and parishes, whether they are looking to establish a group program or improve an existing one.

  • We specialize in helping young people with separated or divorced parents. This model enables groups to be organized with as much homogeneity and cohesion as possible.

While recognizing that bereaved children can have similar grief reactions as children of divorce, we believe that the grief experiences of these groups are more dissimilar than similar. As such, we offer loss-specific groups for children, thereby maximizing the success of treatment. This model is backed by research which states that clients in group treatment who do not identify with other group members may feel alienated and, therefore, be at risk for negative effects.
